Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique keycase to celebrate the brand's centenary. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a fluttering 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

Design

Function
The Bentley Mulsanne Key comes with two buttons that open the trunk, and another that starts the vehicle. It also has a button to switch on the parking break. Secure-A-Key is also included to protect against keyless entry theft. Personalisation
Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to design their own car. Customers sit at a set of images called "mood stations" and choose a selection of photos - from scenic views to sporting events that are inspiring to them to design their own. After each selection is made, a pattern appears that reveals the model and color preferences of the personalized Bentley.
The resulting configuration is loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards that are then presented to the guests in a custom key case. Keys can also be fitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that light up the door's opening pathway with the owner's name or emblem when they arrive at the vehicle.
Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to construct and build a Mulsanne. One of the main reasons for that lengthy effort is a deliberate decision to adopt the latest technology. Instead of using a machine to place the perfectly-matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built in sensors guide it to parallel and perpendicular parking spaces the drivers must do it by hand.
